The "Milos Conference Center - George Eliopoulos" has been established by Mrs Kitty Kyriacopoulos in her father's memory, and is located at Adamas, the island's main port, on a 10,000 sq. meters plot.
It is housed in an old kaolin processing plant, built in 1925, which is overlooking the gulf of Milos. It is an excellent sample of its period's industrial architecture, abandoned and derelict for many years, it was falling apart before becoming the property of ORYMIL S.A., a company belonging to Mrs. Kitty Kyriacopoulos. The ruin was fully restored with high aesthetical standards and respect to its original architecture. Today the edifice is used as the home for conferences, cultural and other events, solving thus one of the Island's perennial problems, the lack of modern large multipurpose halls.
The Conference Center plays a major role in further upgrading the Island's cultural life, since it hosts not only conferences, conventions and symposia, but theatrical, musical and other artistic events as well. At the same time the Center assists in attracting to the island, alternative high quality types of tourism.
The "Milos Conference Center - George Eliopoulos" is operated by a non profit organization financed by the founder of the Center Mrs Kitty Kyriacopoulos, reflecting her commitment to contribute to the development of Milos.
Conference Halls
The Milos Conference Center has two groups of facilities for conference purposes: a central building A, whose main hall is of up to 400 conferees capacity (depending on the sitting arrangement) and an adjacent building B, where, except the supporting installations, three multipurpose-halls ( B1, B2, B3 ) are found.
The main hall of the building A, where the stage is, can be divided, with movable partition, into two separate and isolated halls, one (A1) for 280 conferees and another (A2) for 120 conferees, so as to satisfy different conference requirements by offering the choice between one large conference hall or two smaller ones.
The Center's main hall (A) has a balcony, with 60 persons capacity, where the central control panel of the audiovisual system and two simultaneous translation cabins are located.
If more than two, and up to five, conference meetings are to be held simultaneously, the three halls of the multipurpose building B, can be used. The capacity of these halls is shown in the sitting setup table, under B1, B2 and B3.
Possibilities for open-air activities do also exist if demanded.
The Center hosts cultural events as well, in such events the capacity of the main building may reach to 450 persons.
